Introduction to High - Frequency Board Materials

High - frequency printed boards refer to PCBs used in high - frequency (with a frequency greater than 300 MHz or a wavelength less than 1 meter) and microwave (with a frequency greater than 3 GHz or a wavelength ranging from 0.1 millimeter to 1 meter) fields. They are produced on microwave substrate copper - clad laminates by utilizing the manufacturing methods of ordinary rigid printed boards, with some processes undergoing special treatment.

PCBMASTER manufactures high - frequency board products, mainly including single - sided, double - sided, multi - layer high - frequency and microwave boards, high - frequency microwave metal substrates, and high - frequency microwave hybrid multi - layer boards. Its application fields cover long antennas, base stations, 5G communications, unmanned driving, radar, and so on. With a variety of products in mass production and continuous process improvements over the years, PCBMASTER has accumulated quite rich experience in the production of high - frequency microwave substrates.

Main PTFE Materials:

1.Composition of the Material:
Polytetrafluoroethylene (English name: Teflon, abbreviated as "PTFE").

2.Brands of the Material:
A. Domestic Materials: Brands like Zhongying Technology, Wangling, Shengyi, etc. Their dielectric constants range from 2.5 to 3.5.
Characteristics of Domestic Materials: They have low losses, low costs, and strong adhesion of copper foil.
B. Imported Materials: Brands such as Taconic, Rogers, Neclo, Arlon.

3.Characteristics of PTFE Boards:
A. The dielectric constant (DK) of PTFE boards is lower than that of FR4 boards. (The lower the dielectric constant, the faster the propagation speed of electrical signals.) The dielectric constant of FR - 4 is 4.3, while that of high - frequency boards is generally between 2 and 3.5.
B. The Tg temperature of PTFE boards is higher than that of FR - 4. (Tg refers to the temperature required for the glass transition during lamination.) Generally, the Tg temperature of high - frequency boards is ≥ 170 °C.
